Charlie - One of the Family
Story
Dear Family and Friends,
As you are well aware, last year we decided to take part in Janet Craig's special Pet Project Fundraising Photographic Exhibition called 'One of the Family' to rise funds for Cancer Support WA. Cancer Support WA helps individuals and families dealing with Cancer by providiing support services and the only 24 hour Cancer Support phone line in Australia.
Well it's time again to put your hands in your pockets and help us, Janet Craig Photography and Cancer Support WA reach their target of $120,000.00!
Everyone knows someone who has been affected by Cancer and through here you can easily support our efforts by sponsoring our 'One of the Family' portrait again! By making a secure donation online! I would also appreciate if you could share my page above or comment below so more people know about it.
Click 'Donate Now' to make a secure online donation.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a DGR receipt via email as soon as you make a donation, which can be used at Tax time.
Janet Craig is hoping to raise $120,000.00 to support the work of this incredible local charity – Cancer Support WA. Your donation will help us reach this goal and the portraits will be displayed in a public exhibition this year. Details of the exhibition will be emailed to you closer to the date.
Please find below the story behind my “One of the Family’ portrait.
Thanks so much for your support!

As I am unable to have children, Charlie is our fur-baby. He is ours and is with us almost always. If we are due to go out, he plunks himself in front of the garage door, so we have to take him with us! I am with him nearly 24/7, so he has the extra special bond with me. I am his mum and he seems to know when I am flaring as he will always cuddle in next to me and doesn't seem to get as excited as he does when his dad is home.
Colin is a FIFO worker and is home every 2nd week. He goes completely psycho when Colin gets home and seems to whine as soon as hears his Jeep pull into the garage. He'll whimper until I open the door and will bark until Col gets out of the car and gives him constant cuddles.
Charlie loves water & has done so from the very first moment. I have great recollections of him sitting in a bowl at my friend's house; and nowadays as soon as we turn up, they have to tip the water out as he will still try and sit in it. He has taught their Shih Tzu 'Shadow' to do the same thing!
Charlie is a tricolor Shih Tzu of white & brown fur on his body, with brown & black across his gorgeous face. On any trip to the park, he will chase the ducks straight into the muddy water! His love of water is so bad, we have to hide bowls bigger than him, or otherwise he’ll be in it.
Diet is a word we are trying to get Charlie to understand. He has been on a constant diet since he was 10 months old but it doesn't seem to be working. He eats anything in sight & has even let his Bibi (my mum) pull the cat poop out of his mouth after she thought he eaten a rock. It wasn't the most pleasant but hey she stopped him from going down that path much to her own disgust!!
On 10 October 2014, Charlie turned two years old and although he is becoming older, he still acts and is treated like a puppy. He has more toys than a toddler and they are constantly scattered around the house. On the evenings as we relax in front of the TV, Charlie will either bark (at Col) or grab hold of the noisiest toy possible to play with. This happens nightly without fail, but we wouldn't change his personality for the world.
Charlie believes he is human and well he is & always will be our baby. Who would have ever thought, I would fall in love with a puppy dog!
