Sully - One of the Family
Story
Dear Family and Friends,
I have decided to make a difference by taking part in a special Pet Project Fundraising Photographic Exhibition called ‘One of the family’ to raise funds for Cancer Support WA. Cancer Support WA helps individuals and families dealing with Cancer by providing support services and the only 24 hour Cancer Support phone line in Australia.
Through here you can easily support my efforts by sponsoring my “One of the family’ portrait, by making a secure donation online. I would also really appreciate it if you could share my page above or comment below so more people know about it.
Click 'Donate Now' to make a secure online donation.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a DGR receipt via email as soon as you make a donation, which can be used at Tax time.
We are hoping to raise $120,000.00 to support the work of this incredible local charity – Cancer Support WA. Your donation will help us reach this goal and the portraits will be displayed in a public exhibition in 2015. Details of the exhibition will be emailed to you closer to the date.
Please find below the story behind my “One of the Family’ portrait.
Thanks so much for your support!

There are days you never forget – and five years ago when Sully came into our lives was one of those days. He was (and still is) a very cute Staffy – with big dark eyes, a little potbelly and the softest ears. In the early days, when he was seven weeks old, we had to adjust to standing in the backyard for his late-night visits. Regardless of the weather, he would signal that he was ready to go by sitting on your foot, or head if in bed, and this simple act of trust made you forget it was freezing.
Our daughter Ella was born when Sully was a year old and somehow he knew how special she was to us; he knew she was part of his family. On one occasion, I was sleep deprived and didn’t hear the baby crying until Sully woke me, nudging my face with his nose.
Then he would sit anxiously with me If I couldn’t settle her. In his calm way he always watches over us. Sometimes Ella and Sully have a tug-of-war, which is his favourite game, and he always lets Ella win. Unlike many doge, Sully rarely barks unless there are bubbles in the air or squeaky toys to be had.
If someone in the family is upset or injured, Sully moves straight in and sits close, helping out in his own small way.
Our extended family of grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends are also a big part of his world. Their arrival is always warmly welcomed and invariably he carries his leash in his mouth until the newly arrived take him for a walk.
Sully is a joy to be with and his life within our family – those we hold nearest and dearest – is such a blessing.
